The University of Bayreuth’s Faculty of Law, Business & Economics and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft are currently seeking a
Professor (W 3) of Information Systems as a permanent civil service position who will also play a
leading role in the project group Business & Information Systems Engineering of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT
to commence as soon as possible.
The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. Fraunhofer FIT is shaping the future by linking knowledge from information technology with questions from other areas of life with the aim of developing tailor-made solutions that support people in their work processes and help them in their leisure time.
The University of Bayreuth’s Faculty of Law, Business & Economics and Fraunhofer FIT – in particular, its project group Business & Information Systems Engineering – work together in the field of Information Systems Management for years. The combination of the professorship with a leading role in the project group Information Systems Management is based on the expectation that a significant contribution will be made to the inter-university cooperation of the University of Bayreuth with the Fraunhofer project group.
In your new role, you will competently represent the subject in research and teaching (in English and German) as well as in research and technology management towards public research authorities as well as stakeholders from industry and academia. In addition, you will strengthen the strategic link between the university and Fraunhofer FIT. An active role in the degree programs and supplementary studies of the faculty, especially “Digitalization & Entrepreneurship” and “Finance & Information Management” (joint program with the Technical University of Munich), and the willingness to collaborate with members of Fraunhofer FIT at all its locations are expected. A wide variety of projects with a high level of practical relevance and a great deal of creative freedom in research await you.
You have a distinctive research profile at the interface of finance and information management with deep methodological knowledge on socio-technical and economic questions concerning digital technologies, digital business models, and digital transformation – especially in the context of corporate finance functions (finance, accounting, controlling, taxation) and/or in banks, insurance companies, and other financial service providers. Thus, you will complement the orientation of the existing professorships in the field. You have excellent scientific credentials grounded on related publications in national and international journals. Methodological skills related to business applications for data analytics would be desirable.
Experience in third-party funding, particularly the ability to acquire and manage both publicly and industry-funded projects of applied research with companies, is a prerequisite. We also expect the willingness to collaborate with members of Fraunhofer FIT at all locations. In addition, we expect experience in setting up and leading a research group as well as in interdisciplinary teaching and research.
