Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) intends to fill the following position
from 1st April, 2019:
Professor of Communication Design (Pay group W3, part-time 67%)
We are seeking an internationally recognised and well-connected individual with
outstanding artistic and professional experience to teach and promote artistic
development in the Communication Design graduate studies department.
Present a broad and creatively inclusive vision of communication design.
Initiate and deliver teaching programmes in the Communication Design department.
Mentor students from all artistic and theoretical courses at the university.
Participate in the ongoing development of the university’s curriculum and
Lead and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects with faculty in the university’s
other programmes and with the neighbouring ZKM | Center for Art and Media.
Further official duties are defined in article 46 of the Baden-Württemberg
Higher Education Act (LHG).
Participation in the university’s self-administration bodies is mandatory.
University degree in a relevant course of study or excellent relevant accomplishments
as an artist.
Special aptitude for artistic and experimental work, evidenced by international
Pedagogical abilities and teaching experience.
German or English language skills sufficient for teaching at a high academic
The successful candidate will be hired as a public service employee (Angestellter) and
not as a civil servant (Beamtin/Beamter). This professorship is initially limited to three
years, renewable by a maximum of three years.
