The University of Stuttgart is one of the leading technically oriented universities in Germany in one of Europe’s most vibrant high-tech and industrial areas. The professorship will be hosted at the Institute of Theoretical Physics III and its duties include research and teaching in theoretical physics. Applicants should be able to teach the full syllabus in theoretical physics.

We are searching for a distinguished individual with high-ranking scientific publications, international visibility, and excellence in research and teaching. The applicants are expected to present an innovative research program in the field of quantum many-body systems, which fits into the existing research topics at the faculty. Possible research foci are analytical or numerical methods to solve strongly correlated quantum mechanical many-body systems, research on quantum gravity and quantum field theory and application onto quantum many-body systems, as well as the connection between quantum information and quantum many-body systems. The applicants should have demonstrated the ability to acquire third-party funding. We expect the collaboration with existing and future research cooperations; in particular with the Integrated Science and Technology Center (IQST) and the Center for Applied Quantum Technologies (ZAQuant).

For a qualitative assessment of your academic accomplishments, we kindly ask you to submit a short description of your three most important scientific achievements, which should be no longer than one page in total. Possible successes may include, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society, knowledge and technology transfer, inventions and patents, software development or spin-offs.
