areas in research and teaching. The Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Earth Sciences at the University of Bayreuth is
currently seeking to appoint a
Professor in Soil Ecology (pay grade: W 3)
to commence 1 April 2018. This is a permanent civil service position.
Ecological and Environmental Research is a focus area of the University of Bayreuth. Soil ecology research shall address
biogeochemical processes in regard to the interaction between soils, plants, and/or soil organisms and its impact on material
turnover in terrestrial ecosystems. Experience in experimental laboratory and field research using stable isotopes would be desirable.
Teaching will cover all subjects related to general soil science and soil ecology in the study programs Geoökologie (B.Sc., M.Sc.),
Geographie (B.Sc.) (in German), and in the international master programs Environmental Chemistry, Global Change Ecology,
and Environmental Geography.
The readiness to collaborate with researchers in the Bayreuth Center for Ecological and Environmental Research (BayCEER) at the University of Bayreuth is expected.
Requirements for this position (in accordance with Article 7 and Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG) are a university degree, a doctoral degree,
a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation), and proven excellence in teaching. Evidence of equivalent
scholarly achievement as a junior professor or in a non-university environment will also be considered. Only applicants who are 51 years of age
or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG). The ability to teach in English is expected.
