Reference Number 2021/135. The Professorship at the Department of Politics and Public Administration
is tenured and supposed to start on the April 1st, 2022, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Science,
Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg and the University Council.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence

The successful candidate develops and applies computational and data-intensive methods to study human behavior and social interaction, and has
domain expertise in one of the social and behavioral sciences (economics, political science, psychology, sociology, or a related field). Possible focus
areas are, among others, the analysis of unstructured data (text, audio, image, video) or causal inference (causal machine learning, causal discovery).
The holder of the position takes, together with the simultaneously advertised professorship in Data Analytics and Computational Statistics, a leading
role in the interdisciplinary Master's program in Social and Economic Data Science (SEDS), and is committed to the development of the emerging
field of Data Science at the University of Konstanz.
The position requires a doctoral degree in one of the social and behavioral sciences, computer science, or statistics, with an evident inclination to the
other disciplines. Applicants have a strong research record substantiated through relevant publications in high-rank journals, as well as experience
in attracting external funding. Equally important, applicants must be able to provide quality teaching at the graduate level.
