The Institute of Regional Science (IFR) offers a permanent position on October 1st, 2021 as
W3-Professorship in Regional Science
We are looking for a personality willing to represent the specialty of Regional Science in its full range in research and teaching and to develop it together with her or his team in terms of content and methodology. This includes the discipline of regional development, a mainly empirical science which prepares analyses of spatial structures and processes and, based on these, concepts and measures of regional planning in the framework of a sustainable regional development.
In the field of teaching and research, the KIT Institute of Regional Science maintains extensive relations with different countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The candidate is expected to continue the existing activities.
The applicant represents the discipline in the context of required and elective courses of the Master's degree course in "Regional Science/Spatial Planning" and holds lectures for the KIT degree programs in geoecology and geography. In addition, the Master's degree course in "Regional Science/Spatial Planning" includes two crossborder study programs with UdeC (Concepción, Chile) and UTN (Córdoba, Argentinia).
The candidate's work is based on scientific achievements proven by relevant publications and expertise in spatial planning, regional science or related disciplines. Knowledge in methods of empirical regional research both as to quantitative and qualitative methods are required. The applicant is prepared to get involved in interdisciplinary cooperation with their colleagues of the Department and the Division as well as in the KIT Centers "Climate and Environment" and "Energy" and to develop new research and teaching concepts.
Candidates should have a habilitation degree or an equivalent qualification that may also have been acquired outside of the university as well as proven didactic skills and teaching experience. Employment conditions as outlined in Art. 47 LHG (Law of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges) shall apply.
