The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the Stiftung European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) invites applications for the position of a
W3 Professorship in Public Economics
starting winter term 2020. The professorship is expected to strengthen education and research in the field of Public Economics (especially including Public Finance,
Environmental Economics, Education Economics, Competition and Regulatory Economics and adjacent areas) and to contribute to the profile of the university. The European
University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) puts its research and teaching focus on questions that will shape the future of an unified Europe and places particular emphasis on
the German-Polish cooperation.
The ideal candidate is expected to
have a pronounced interest in research, proven by the publication of research outcomes in leading international journals,
have an interest in contributing to the public debate on current matters of European economic policy,
have experience in the development and advancement of third-party funded research,
strive for excellence in teaching and be interested in innovative teaching methods.
The candidate should further
be interested in interdisciplinary research questions,
ideally deal with the development of the research area with respect to Central and Eastern Europe,
ideally include aspects of gender and diversity in teaching and/or research.
The candidate is expected to teach in English in the study program Master of European Studies as well as in the Bachelor and Master programs in
International Business Administration. German language proficiency is not required, however, we expect the successful candidate to be able to
constructively participate in meetings held in German within two years after appointment. The university’s language center offers German language courses.
