The faculty seeks to appoint an outstanding candidate for the position of head of the Institute of Design and Production in Precision Engineering (Institut für Konstruktion und Fertigung in der Feinwerktechnik, www.uni-stuttgart.de/ikff).
We are looking for a candidate with international reputation and visibility who by using modern scientific methods can address all topics of fundamental and application-oriented research and teaching in precision engineering, its modelling and simulation especially for the product and technology development within the digitalized and networked industrial environment.
The professorship is located at the interfaces of electrical engineering, micro technology as well as medical technology and has an interdisciplinary orientation. Research emphasis shall be orientated towards miniaturised mechatronic components, ultra-miniature drives or unconventional actuators as well as their interfaces to sensory technology or regulation. New, networked technologies of technical components with application in equipment technology, medical technology and automotive technology are further fields of research emphasis.
Theory of design is to be taught in bachelor’s courses as well as in discipline-specific master’s courses, with the explicit objective of enhancing mechatronic approaches. All courses need to be taught in German.
Experience in industry and/or research in a leadership position and a background including innovative research and development projects is of advantage.
