The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W3) in Neurosurgery
(Succession of Prof. Dr. Josef Zentner)
to be filled by October 1, 2017. The professorship will represent the field of neurosurgery
in research, teaching and patient care.
The future holder of the position will be the medical director of the Department of Neurosurgery,
Neurocenter, at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg. The Division of
Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery is part of the Department of Neurosurgery.
The candidate must have longstanding clinical experience in the complete field of general
neurosurgery. Applicants are expected to be experienced in personnel and clinical
management, as well as clinical oeconomics. Excellent, internationally recognized scientific
credentials, allocation of third-party research funding and teaching abilities are
required for this position.
A close cooperation with the constituting departments and institutes within the Neurocenter
as well as with the cooperating partners is expected. Integration into the research
projects of the faculty of medicine, especially in oncology, neuroscience and into
the excellence cluster BrainLinks/BrainTools is equally expected.
Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a MD degree, an outstanding dissertation
and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in
academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German
academic system, are expected; and a board certification in neurosurgery.
The position is tenured according to § 50 para 1 Landeshochschulgesetz (LHG).
