PROFESSOR (W3) IN INDUSTRIAL SALES AND SERVICE ENGINEERING
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum - faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Product and Service Engineering, invites
applications for the position of a Professor (W3) in Industrial Sales and Service Engineering to start on April 1st, 2017.
The future job holder will represent the course of studies Industrial Sales and Service Engineering in research and teaching. We are looking
for a personality for the administration of our institute who is specialized in the fields of Industrial Sales, Industrial Service and (if possible)
Industrial Engineering. A special emphasis should lie on industrial customers, sales and service management in research and teaching. The field
of study of negotiation management would be highly appreciated for your competence profile.
We expect the future job holder to think and act on the highest scientific and industrial state of the art of sales- and service management.
Own experiences in international sales or service of industrial goods are advantageous.
Networking with the neighboring institutes for Energy Technology, Thermo- and Fluid Dynamics and Advanced Materials ideally results by
considering Engineering Smarter Product-Service-Systems. Ideal applicants have experience in compound- and DFG-research. We expect the
construction of a research field with high international visibility and simultaneously reference to industrial praxis and significant
promotion of third-party funding.
The vacant professorship will be a mainstay for the education of sales engineers and product manager. It also embraces the role of the
coordinator of the field of studies. Teaching will be focused on obligatory courses in the course of studies Sales Engineering and
Product Management (SEPM Bachelor and Master) at the RUB. Offering courses in the interfaculty area of Sales- and Service-Management
would be highly appreciated. Didactical skills for lectures with a great number of students and small practice groups are vital.
Positive evaluation as a junior professor or equivalent academic achievement (e.g. habilitation) and evidence of special aptitude
are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB and to generally get involved
in university processes according to RUB’s mission statement.

high commitment in teaching
readiness to participate in interdisciplinary academic work
willingness and ability to attract external funding
nonacademic skills in integrative negotiation management
