Professorship in Artificial Intelligence
salary grade: W3 reference code: W3KünstInt
The successful applicant will cover the area named above in research and teaching.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act
We are looking for a candidate with excellent international teaching experience and a distinguished international record of research in artificial intelligence
(basics, applications and effects of machine learning or symbolic communicative intelligence). Additionally he or she is expected to have extensive experience in
acquiring and leading externally funded research projects.
Apart from the official duties in accordance with article 99 of the Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
We expect the new professor to cooperate within the Institute of Computer Science and beyond, in particular with the
Berlin Center for Machine Learning (BCML)
, with other departments of Freie Universität Berlin as well as national and international partner universities. Further, the appointee will collaborate in the upcoming research topic
Informatics for Health
http://www.mi.fu-berlin.de/inf/news/Informatics-for-Health.html) of the Institute of Computer Science and participate in the institute's strategic development. Additionally, the appointee is expected to teach in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs in the area of Machine Learning for the subjects Computer Science, Bioinformatics and Data Science. She or he will also engage in conceptional program development. The new professor will also supervise and implement knowledge and technology transfer activities (e.g. industrial cooperations, inventions/patents, spin-offs) and address relevant gender and diversity approaches in research and teaching. Finally, the candidate we are looking for is willing to acquire any missing knowledge of the German language within a reasonable period of time (ca. 3 years).

If applicable for the respective content area, please give information on industrial cooperations, inventions, patents and spin-offs.
