Working field: The professorship for Architecture and Structural Design is responsible for teaching basic structural design and dimensioning and, in cooperation with the academic chairs in the area of design, is a standard bearer for the project-oriented teaching concept of the Institute of Architecture (Berlin Model, Design-Build). In the field of research, the Chair of Architecture and Structural Design will prototype new structural solutions for an architecture that is increasingly geared towards adaptability, sustainability and digitization (Industry 4.0). The professorship will develop regular contact to other fields of knowledge, society and industry.
Successful applicants are expected to contribute actively to the development of the key research areas of TU Berlin and to participate in the faculty’s teaching curriculum.
Requirements: We are looking for a university-trained civil engineer with a high level of affinity to architecture, or another university-qualified person with a high level of affinity to architecture, who is actively working in civil engineering. Successful applicants are expected to possess relevant scientific achievements in the field of structural engineering/structural design and have worked on outstanding projects in this field. A capacity for interdisciplinary teamwork and a willingness to participate in academic self-government is expected.
Applicants must qualify for appointment in accordance with the requirements of Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG). These entail a teaching portfolio (you can obtain more detailed information concerning this on the TUB homepage, quick access 144242).
Applicants must be able to conduct teaching in German and English. The requisite language skills were determined by the Academic Senate in its decision on language policy of May 16, 2018 (TUB website quick access 210868). Successful applicants are able to responsibly direct a chair/department, support junior scholars and deal effectively with issues relating to gender and diversity.
