The University of Stuttgart and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft jointly seek applications for a Professorship (W3) for Technology Management and Work Science connected with the Position of a Member of the Management at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO. The teaching and research spectrum covers the areas of technology management and ergonomics for industrial and service companies with a focus on socio-technical organization of human-technology interactions in the production and use of goods and services. In product and process development, a systematic user orientation is to be pursued, considering sustainability goals and the demographic change.
The field of research and teaching in industrial science comprises the creation of humane working and living conditions, combined with business development that focuses on economic success, and includes methods and procedures for dealing with technologies, the identification, development and introduction of relevant new technologies, the realization of organizational forms and the recognition of technology risks. Potential fields of application for the socio-technical design of human-technology interactions are knowledge work, vehicle engineering, service management, information technologies for work system and product engineering, mobility and urban system planning, methodological support of the technology and innovation management process, future of work, digitalization and sustainability. The resulting wide spectrum of research in the field of production, service and information management requires a wholistic view and interdisciplinary project work. For this purpose, knowledge of socio-technical and socio-economic system organization, product development, service management, information management, innovation management, work science, as well as knowledge in the areas of sustainability and digitization are required.
Teaching must include bachelor’s courses on the fundamentals of industrial science, product engineering, and socio-technical and socio-economic system engineering. In the master's programs, subject-specific teaching content on service, information, technology and innovation management as well as sustainability and digitization will be covered in greater detail. The further development of teaching is expected.
We are looking for a personality with international experience who can comprehensively represent the above-mentioned topics in research and teaching. In addition to an outstanding ability to carry out independent scientific work, which is documented by high-quality, relevant publications in the research areas of technology management and industrial science, a university degree, a PhD and a habilitation or a habilitation-equivalent performance is required. Likewise, the proven ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner is a key asset. Your background includes many years of management experience, possibly industrial experience, of major interdisciplinary research groups, experience in strategic planning, acquisition and implementation of substantial national and international research and development projects in different business areas, as well as skills in increasing the efficiency of development processes and in technology exploitation. You have the required gender competences at your disposal. The management function includes responsibility for a total of several hundred people in the scientific sector. Great importance is attached to involvement in interdisciplinary research collaborations, the acquisition of third-party funding and successful technology transfer. International work and teaching experience and/or experience in international projects and scientific-political networking are of advantage. A willingness to cooperate with industrial companies is expected.
