Professorate (W3) for Systematic Theology
(with Dogmatics and Ethics as focus)
This position is to be filled starting April 1st, 2020.
The Faculty of Protestant Theology aims to further strengthen its profile with theology that is current and is intellectually open to taking risks. The faculty is seeking a candidate who actively and creatively contributes to building this profile.
The successful candidate will possess a doctorate and habilitation in the subject of systematic theology and, in addition, will demonstrate the ability and willingness to represent the subject of systematic theology in its manifoldness in teaching. Work place will be the Department of Protestant Theology at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Cologne which is linked to the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the University of Bonn through a cooperation agreement. Teaching will take place in Bonn and Cologne, predominantly as part of the teacher training in Cologne.
With regard to research, this role requires a focus on the fields of dogmatics and ethics, which may also extend beyond the Faculty of Protestant Theology. Cross-disciplinary cooperation and commitment to raising third-party funds are strongly desired. This particularly applies to establishing a research focus "dogmatics and ethics for school".
Habilitation or equivalent scholarly accomplishments in compliance with § 36 of the law governing the universities of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW) are conditions of employment.
