PROFESSORSHIP (W3) FOR STATICS AND DYNAMICS (M/F/D)

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for the position of a Professorship (W3) for Statics and Dynamics (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible. We are looking for a scientifically outstanding personality who researches current and innovative topics in the field of statics and dynamics, publishes the results successfully and with high international visibility and inspires students and staff for these topics. The future post holder should complement the existing focal points at the faculty and actively develop them further. Outstanding performance in several of the following areas is desired:

• Numerical structure simulation, identification and optimisation
• Artificial intelligence and machine learning
• Circular construction
• Dealing with uncertainties
• Safety, reliability and resilience
• Underground construction and subsurface engineering

Furthermore we expect:

• strong commitment to academic teaching at graduate and undergraduate level including involvement in the faculty's English-language Computational Engineering and Subsurface Engineering programs;
• readiness to participate in interdisciplinary research;
• willingness and proven ability to acquire significant externally funded research projects and to participate in research collaborations;
• strong leadership experience.

Extensive experimental and numerical infrastructures are available for research and teaching – partly in joint use with other fields at the faculty.
