The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Freiburg seeks applications for a
Full Professorship (W3) for Research in
in the Department of General and Visceral Surgery at the University Hospital in Freiburg
(director: Prof. Dr. Stefan Fichtner-Feigl) as soon as possible. The chair holder will
represent the subject of experimental and translational surgical oncology in research
The position is tenured according to § 50 para 1 Landeshochschulgesetz (LHG). Applicants
must have a graduate degree in human medicine or natural sciences, an academic
doctotral degree, a Habilitation according to the German academic system or
equivalent achievements, and longstanding experience in oncological research. Furthermore,
applicants are characterized by international research projects, ought to have
an international record of previous allocation of third-party funding and publications
in international scientific journals . A crucial focus of the position is on translational
research. Active participation and collaboration with local research facilities and current
projects (SFB, DKTK, CCCF) is presupposed. Willingness to interdisciplinary collaboration
as well as experience in leading and management characterize the applicant as
well. It is desirable that applicants show strong commitment to teaching and very good
didactic skills in the field of experimental and translational surgical oncology. This position
is particularly suitable for eligible highly qualified junior scientists.
Applicants with clinical oncological specialization and qualification may be asked to
take on tasks related to patient care.
