University of Heidelberg Medical Faculty Mannheim is seeking to re-appoint at the earliest opportunity a
W 3-Professor for Radiotherapy
(Successor: Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Frederik Wenz)
The successful applicant will represent the entire field of radiotherapy in research, teaching and patient care. The University Clinic for Radiotherapy and Radiooncology in Mannheim will continue to offer a wide range of innovative services in radiation therapy and radio-oncology, including invasive intraoperative radiotherapy. In the area of research, the successful applicant should focus in particular on the fields of oncology and medical technology. In addition, active participation in the other research areas of the faculty (translational neurosciences and vascular biology and medicine) is desirable. In teaching, intensive participation is expected in the design and implementation of teaching within the MaReCuM model medical degree program, as well as in the Biomedical Engineering Master's degree.
Applicants should have acquired a university degree, a doctoral degree, and additional academic achievements that in accordance with § 47 para 2 of the Landeshochschulgesetz should be demonstrated by a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated Junior professorship or comparable qualifications. Licensing as a specialist for radiotherapy is also required. International recognition, excellent performance in research, teaching and health care, relevant leadership experience, successful acquisition of third-party funding and didactic skills are additionally expected, together with cooperation and leadership abilities, and engagement in academic self-governance.
The candidate will participate in patient care at the University Hospital Mannheim. The directorship of the Department of Radiotherapy and Radiooncology at the University Hospital Mannheim is linked to the W 3 professorship. In this regard, a separate contract will be concluded with the Klinikum Mannheim GmbH - University Hospital.
The position is a permanent W3 Professorship. If the general legal (German civil service law) and budgetary requirements are fulfilled, the appointment will, as a rule, be an appointment to a permanent professorship with civil service for life status (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit).
