The Faculty of Energy and Economic Sciences of Clausthal University of Technology (TUC), Germany, invites applications for the tenured position of a

University Professor (W3) for „Petroleum Production Systems“

at the Institute of Petroleum Engineering.
The successful candidate will be of outstanding educational and scientific qualification, and responsible for the area of petroleum production systems in teaching and research. The faculty seeks candidates with in-depth knowledge in the above-mentioned area in the form of a habilitation or equivalent, who will contribute in research and lecturing of courses to established bachelor programs as well as the master study program in Petroleum Engineering relating to fluid production and storage in the geologic underground. It is expected that the successful candidate contributes to questions beyond classical oil and gas topics related to the energy transition („Energiewende“), in particular to geothermal exploration and production, H2 and CO2 underground storage, storage of heat including their related processes and facilities for treatment and transport of complex multiphase flow.
The Institute of Petroleum Engineering participates in international research and teaching programs. The language of instruction in the petroleum engineering curricula is English. Good command of the English language is therefore required. Relevant and successful industry experience is expected.
Conditions of appointment are according to § 25 of Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz NHG). Clausthal University of Technology wishes to increase the number of its female faculty. Therefore, applications from female candidates are particularly welcome. Candidates with disabilities who are equally qualified will be given preference.
Applications of scientists from abroad are explicitly welcome. Prior knowledge of German is expected together with the willingness to gain proficiency to be able to assume leading positions within the academic self-administration.
Candidates who have reached the age of fifty by the time of appointment and who do not already have civil servant status are appointed by an employment contract.
