The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University is seeking to appoint a
W 3 ENDOWED PROFESSORSHIP FOR PEDIATRIC RADIOLOGY
at the Department of Clinical Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Schönberg).
Based within in the Department of Clinical Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, the successful candidate will be able to fully represent the field of pediatric
radiology in research and teaching. In the scientific arena an active contribution to one or more of the main research areas of the Medical Faculty is expected,
in particular to the topic area of medical technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in innovative joint research projects, and to
strengthen the faculty through the acquisition of external funding for research. Close cooperation with local research institutes outside the university (e.g.
German Cancer Research Center, Fraunhofer Institute, University of Applied Sciences Mannheim) and Central Institute of Mental Health (e.g. in the field of
functional-molecular imaging with MRI-PET) is particularly desired. A significant contribution to the academic teaching of pediatric radiology within the
MaReCuMplus medical degree and the master degree programs of the medical faculty is also expected.
The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University wants to recruit a renowned personality with excellent clinical and scientific expertise in the field of pediatric radiology.
Applicants should have acquired a university degree, a doctoral degree, and additional academic achievements that in accordance with § 47 para 2 of the
Landeshochschulgesetz should be demonstrated by a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated Junior professorship or comparable qualifications. An international
reputation with outstanding achievements in the field of pediatric radiology, as well as didactic competence is expected, together with cooperation and leadership
abilities, commitment to the further development of the MaReCuMplus study program, and engagement in academic self-governance.
Based on appropriate qualifications and through agreement with the University Hospital Mannheim GmbH, the holder of the W 3 professorship is expected to participate
in outpatient and inpatient care at the Department of Clinical Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of the University Hospital Mannheim as senior physician (Oberarzt/Oberärztin)
and section chief of pediatric radiology including the interdisciplinary radiology-pediatric ultrasound center. A cooperative and active collaboration with the departments
of pediatric and adolescent medicine, pediatric surgery and neonatology as well as the centers for pediatric oncology and urology and the department of neuroradiology is expected.
In accordance with the endowment contract concluded with the University Hospital Mannheim GmbH, the position will be time-limited for five years. If the general requirements
for civil service and budget are met, the candidate will be temporarily appointment as a civil servant.
