INSTITUTE FOR MICROBIOLOGY | AT THE EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY
The Faculty 4 – Energy-, Process- and Bio-Engineering at the University of Stuttgart invites applications for a Professorship (W3) for Microbiology.
The department is looking for an outstanding and creative individual who is internationally renowned in an emerging research area of microbiology. In addition to coverage of the fundamental biology of microorganisms including prokaryotes, novel scientific insights should be achieved by implementing the latest methodological approaches of synthetic biology. Research activities should in principle also support emerging future applications in interdisciplinary, biotechnologically relevant and possibly biomedical fields.
The professorship will be located at the Institute of Microbiology. The incoming professor will also act as the director of the institute, which requires excellent leadership qualities as well as staff management and motivation experience. The candidate should already have successfully attracted and managed third-party funded projects.
The candidate should be strongly committed to collaborate at the boundaries of disciplines in fundamental and engineering sciences, for example by active participation in one or more of the existing interdisciplinary and cross-faculty research networks at the University of Stuttgart, for example the Stuttgart Research Center Systems Biology (SRCSB), the Stuttgart Research Initiative Valorisation of Bioresources (SRI ValBio), and the Stuttgart Research Focus Advanced Materials Innovation and Characterization (AMICA).
We expect the applicant to possess an excellent teaching record, sufficient experience and didactically qualified concepts. The willingness to adequately participate in the regular microbiology syllabus for all courses in the study programmes Technical Biology (B.Sc., M.Sc.) and various additional STEM study programmes is mandatory. Eagerness to teach practical skills is a prerequisite.
The requirements for employment listed in § 47 and § 50 Baden-Württemberg university law apply.
