The Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of
Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg, invites applications for a research-oriented
Applied Physics and Semiconductor Spectroscopy
(Angewandte Physik und Halbleiterspektroskopie)
commencing on April 1, 2018.
Candidates should have an internationally recognized research record to further strengthen the competences of the
Institute for Physics and Chemistry of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in the field of materials research with the
focus on semiconductor devices and functional materials. The experimental research program should focus on the
characterization of properties and functionalities of new semiconductor materials and devices, in particular
nanoscale systems and interfaces. A broad range of spectroscopic techniques should be complemented by the
investigation of ultrafast processes, as for example charge transport in nanoscale systems or THz spectroscopy
for structural analysis. Successful candidates will establish strong cooperations with other groups inside and
outside the BTU. Responsibilities also include teaching of undergraduate and graduate classes in experimental
and applied physics, as well as adequate involvement in service classes in the general field of physics.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act
of the State of Brandenburg - BbgHG) in conjunction with § 3 BbgHG.

Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should
be relevant for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
