Professor of Marketing and Sport Management
(pay grade: W2 / W3)
to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position in the "Bayreuth Track" scheme. The postholder may be promoted to the W3 level upon successful performance review of research and teaching in accordance with the Bayreuth Track Personnel Development Model for professors at the University of Bayreuth.
The applicant should focus on research and teaching in the area of marketing and sport management and show excellent scholarly achievements. The professor will join the Marketing and Services (MuSe) Group, enhancing its profile via research on brand management in the field of sports as well as on new and social media. The teaching responsibilities will mainly be in the area of business and economics. The professor is expected to help coordinate the study programme Sport, Business and Law (Sportökonomie) and to stimulate the transfer of research and teaching within sports organizations and to sports practice. He or she will also be expected to engage in the interdisciplinary programmes of the university, especially in the master‘s programme Media Culture and Media Economy (Medienkultur und Medienwirtschaft). In addition, the incumbent will be encouraged to participate in one of the focus areas of the University of Bayreuth.
Requirements for this position (according to BayHSchPG Article 7 and Article 10 para 3) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching and a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively, evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement for example as a junior professor or in a non-university environment will also be considered. The ability to teach in English is expected. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
