Professorship (W2, tenure track) of Political Science with a special focus on Education Policy / Political Socialisation Research

The Institute of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Goethe University Frankfurt am
Main, Germany, is seeking to fill the following position (civil servant or equivalent salaried employee
status) at the earliest possible date:
Professor of Political Science (W2, tenure track)
with a special focus on Education Policy/Political
The initial tenure track appointment is for six years according to § 64 of the Higher Education Act of the
State of Hessen (HHG). The professorship is funded by the Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des
wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses (BLP). Upon positive evaluation, the incumbent will be promoted to a
permanent position at a higher level (W3). Applications are invited from post-doctoral researchers in the
early stages of their careers (according to § 64, para. 3 HHG the doctorate should not date back to more
than four years).
The successful applicant will have an international reputation in the field of policy analysis and/or political
socialisation research. He/She is expected to specialise in education policy/socialisation processes in
schools. It is furthermore assumed that he/she is willing to participate in current and planned research
projects at the University and engage in teaching on a wide scale in all the Faculty’s degree programmes,
especially those in education sciences. As the incumbent will also be largely involved in the University's
teaching degree programmes, experience and concepts for teaching the respective subject content in
schools are desirable. Experience in securing third-party funding is an asset.
If appointed, applicants are obliged to play an active role in academic self-administration at the University.
