Professorship (W2) Tenure Track for Computational Neuroscience of Behavior
Published(89 days ago)
Deadline for applications(39 days ago)
Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of BonnBonn
The Medical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn is recruiting a
W2 tenure track professorship for
Computational Neuroscience of Behavior
with the option of tenure after 5 years.
The professorship is affiliated to the Institute of Experimental Epileptology and Cognition Research (www.eecr-bonn.de, Director Prof. Dr. H. Beck) of the University of Bonn. The position will be integrated into a vibrant and active neuroscience research environment. One of the central emerging interests of the community in Bonn is to address which neuronal and cellular mechanisms are responsible for specific behaviors. The neuroscience community is characterized by a close interaction with non-university institutions, mainly the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases in the Helmholtz Association e.V., and the research center caesar in the Max Planck Society.
The candidate will combine expertise in the analysis of in-vivo neuronal activity and behavior with computational neuroscience approaches to reveal principles of brain function in rodent models. Of interest are for instance mechanisms of decision making and memory. A recruitment of a candidate focused on the pure exploration of mathematical neuron models and their dynamics independent of functional neurobiological research is not intended.
We are looking for a personality with outstanding scientific achievements and third-party funding. Applicants should be prepared to participate in curricular teaching activities. The future job holder is expected to engage with and integrate into the neuroscience community in Bonn, as well as to participate in existing or planned research networks, in particular the SFB 1089 ‘Synaptic Micronetworks in Health and Disease‘.
The conditions of employment are according to § 36 Hochschulgesetz NRW.
The University of Bonn is committed to diversity and equal opportunity. It is certified as a family-friendly university and has a dual career service. It aims to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are underrepresented and to promote their careers in particular. It therefore urges women with relevant qualifications to apply. Applications will be handled in accordance with the Landesgleichstellungsgesetz (State Equality Act). Applications from suitable individuals with a certified serious disability and those of equal status are particularly welcome.
Qualified candidates should submit documents of application including cover letter, curriculum vitae, certificates, list of publications as well as a completed application form, both in German and English by January 11th, 2019 to the Dean of the Medical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn, Prof. Dr. Nicolas Wernert, Sigmund-Freud-Straße 25, 53127 Bonn.
