The Department of Romance Studies, Faculty of Modern Philologies of Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, invites applications for the following position as civil servant or public employee starting at the earliest possible:

Professorship (W2)
Romance Didactics and Transcultural Learning

The successful candidate represents the Didactics of Romance Languages and Literature both in research and teaching. Candidates with experience in teaching didactics of Romance literature will be preferred. A substantial record in the field of mediating transcultural competences, as stipulated in the core curriculum of the Hesse Ministry of Culture, is required. Candidates will have an outstanding, relevant dissertation as well as additional academic credentials (e. g. evaluated junior professorship, Habilitation, equivalent post-doctoral achievements, second book). Candidates that have passed the German State Exam and with teaching experience at schools will be preferred.

The successful candidate will share responsibility for the teacher education programs for French and Spanish (Haupt- and Realschule, Gymnasium).

Collaboration is expected with the professorship of “Second Language Acquisition and Multilingualism” and all colleagues in the Department of Romance Studies (especially literary studies), with the other didactics sections within the Faculty of Modern Philologies (German und English), as well as with the Academy for Research on Education and Teacher Education (ABL) at Goethe University.

As the position is part of the department's teacher training program, we seek a candidate with specialized experience in this field capable of devising concepts for teaching Romance Languages and Literatures at schools.

The designated salary for the position is based on the German university pay scale or equivalent.
