Your tasks:
As a member of the teaching staff, you will be working on the bachelor’s study program Civil Engineering, in particular in the specialist field of water resources management in addition to the master’s study program Infrastructure Management – Water and Traffic engineering. Your tasks will include teaching the fundamentals of hydraulic engineering and water resources management, including engineering hydrology, hydraulics, watercourse regulation and protection, and digital dimensioning processes and methods. The management, operation and further development of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Engineering is in addition assigned to your teaching area. This assignment comprises of the promotion and interdisciplinary use of the laboratory hall, in particular with the Laboratory for Urban Water Management, and fostering of cooperation with regional stakeholders in the area of water resources management and hydraulic engineering. This professorship also incorporates the implementation of research and/or practical projects in addition to the acquisition and implementation of external third-party funded projects.
Your profile:
We are not only looking for a person with a proven track record in teaching and research in the field of water resources management and hydraulic engineering, but also for a person who has excellent knowledge in several of the specialist areas listed below, in addition to relevant experience in engineering practice and the implementation of R and D projects (including their corresponding publications) and who can convey these in the Bachelor's and Master's degree program courses in the Department of Civil Engineering, especially against the background of general climate change and demographic development:
- Engineering hydrology and hydraulics
- Water resources management and flood protection
- Near-natural hydraulic engineering and engineering biology
- Planning, construction and operation of hydro-engineering installations
- Modeling of water resource management systems
The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Ostwestfalen-Lippe embodies the unity of teaching and research. You are experienced with regard to the acquisition and implementation of interdisciplinary projects and can actively implement these within the acquisition of external third-party funding as well as the acquisition of research projects in your subject areas. Ideally, you should have the appropriate national and international network to facilitate this and cooperate with colleagues at the university. Furthermore, the Department of Civil Engineering has not only made the issue of climate change and its consequences but also combatting climate change a central task as part of the transfer of knowledge in the faculty.
You identify with the university's supervision concept, which requires a high presence of the lecturers at the university location and the willingness to take on self-administrative task at the university. Up to 25% of your teaching is provided as digital teaching, if required, to enable cross-location events. You offer your courses in German. In addition, you are qualified to conduct courses in English.
Furthermore, you promote innovative and interdisciplinary study and communication formats for multidisciplinary teaching and for the dialog between science and society.
