Subject to availability of funding, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill, at the earliest opportunity, the following temporary full-time
post in the Department of Applied Human Sciences:
W2 Professor of the Psychology of Human-Technology Interaction
For a total of 16 lecture periods per week per semester the post holder will be responsible for teaching the subject at introductory and more in-depth level with application to rehabilitation, on the Bachelor's degree course in "Human-Technology Interaction", and will also be responsible for supervising final dissertations, until 31.12.2023. Above all, the teaching will comprise classes on neuro- and cognition psychological as well as human biological-anatomical and sensory neuroscientific principles, on rehabilitation psychology, and in particular on health and sickness behaviour, and needs assessment as well as acceptance research and participatory decision-making. A close relationship in terms of content to rehabilitation psychology topics in a field of practice with a strong requirement for research on human-technology interaction, e. g. neuropsychology, geriatrics, paediatrics or orthopaedics as well as industrial, organisational and business psychology is desirable.
Furthermore, the post holder will be expected:
to be prepared to teach and cooperate on an interdisciplinary basis in the new course in "Human-Technology Interaction" (at the Magdeburg site), which is offered jointly by the Departments of Applied Human Sciences (Stendal site), Social Work, Health & Media and Engineering & Industrial Design (both Magdeburg site),
to be prepared to further develop the course offering in respect of "Human-Technology Interaction" and the realisation of innovative curricular concepts (e. g. innovative forms of teaching and learning to bridge the distance between the two sites) and their implementation in terms of higher education didactics,
to be prepared to take an active role in academic self-governance (Departmental Council at the Stendal site, Senate, predominantly at the Magdeburg site),
to have experience in regional and local networking. The Department has, through the courses it offers in Rehabilitation Psychology, an excellent network of medical rehabilitation facilities and facilities dedicated to participation in working life and the community. These should be maintained and expanded upon by the post holder.
a completed degree in Psychology, Social or Health Sciences,
several years of professional practice after completion of your studies (in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Act of the state of Saxony-Anhalt), of which at least 3 years must be outside of academia,
thematically relevant theoretical and empirical research and publication experience and the readiness to critically reflect upon these in your teaching are also required,
you should also be able to demonstrate a particular aptitude for scientific work, which can be evidenced by a post-doctoral degree in one of the above-mentioned specialities.
General Conditions of Employment:
The conditions of employment for professors are contained in § 35 of the Higher Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) and the Guidelines on the Procedures for Appointing
Professors at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences dated 13.06.2018 (BerufungsRL), both as amended. These include a completed university degree, pedagogic ability
and a special aptitude for scientific work, which will generally have been demonstrated by the acquisition of a doctoral degree. Particular achievements in the application or
development of scientific knowledge and methods must have been demonstrated through several years of professional practice, at least three years of which must have been outside of the higher education sector.
A post remunerated at W2 level is available for the professorship (Remuneration Order W from the Act Reforming Remuneration Law in the State of Saxony-Anhalt (BesNeuRG LSA, official gazette 04/2011) as amended).
Subject to fulfilment of the requirements, the successful candidate would be appointed temporarily to the rank of civil servant initially until 31.12.2023, or alternatively would enter into an employment relationship under private law limited until 31.12.2023, in accordance with § 38 para. 1 sentence 9 HSG LSA. A subsequent conversion to the rank of civil servant with unlimited tenure or to an unlimited employment relationship under private law in accordance with § 38 para. 1 sentence 9 HSG LSA is possible, subject to meeting the relevant requirements.
