The Technische Universität Berlin - Department I (Humanities) - Institute of Philosophy, Literary Studies, History of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of a
University Professor - salary grade W2
of Science and Technology Studies.
The position is supported by funds of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW). The position
is filled in cooperation with the BBAW. The position is announced for five years, a perspective for expanding the term is to be developed.

Working field: Research and teaching in the field of Sociology of Science and Technology Studies.
The successful candidate is expected to cooperate with other reflective fields on science and technology, such as
History of Science, History of Technology, Science and Literature, Philosophy of Science, or Gender Studies, and
hence to further interdisciplinary collaboration. Cooperation with the Berlin Center for the History of Knowledge
will be an advantage. In teaching, the successful candidate will participate in the MA program "Geschichte
und Kultur von Wissenschaft und Technik" and the Interdisciplinary parts of the BA programs "Kultur und
Technik". Courses can be given in German or English language and will be opened in appropriate ways to the
TU programs in sociology. The successful candidate will also support the BBAW in researching and reporting for
policy consulting, as well as in monitoring and analyzing the effects of secular developments in research such
as digitalization. She or he will direct an Interdisciplinary Research group at the BBAW and consult others.
Due to the activities at the academy, the position has a reduced teaching obligation of five hours per week.
Requirements: Candidates must qualify for appointment according to the requirements of § 100
BerlHG, including a university degree, an excellent scientific record demonstrated by an excellent PhD and a
postdoctoral degree (Habilitation) or equivalent achievements in the field of Sociology of Science and Technology/
Science and Technology Studies, pedagogical and educational capabilities, to be given proof of by a teaching portfolio

Excellent research record in the those fields. Experience in interdisciplinary cooperation with other reflective fields
on science and technology is an advantage.
