PROFESSORSHIP OF INTERCULTURAL THEOLOGY AND CORPOREALITY (W2)
The Ruhr-University Bochum - Faculty of Protestant Theology invites applications for the
Professorship of Intercultural Theology and Corporeality (W2). Expected starting date is April 1st, 2017.
The future holder of the post will represent intercultural theology comprehensively in both research and
teaching (BA-degree program/MEd-educational degree program/ Magister Theologiae/Master of Arts). This includes
research in contemporary developments in religious cultures, as well as the ability to reflect theologically
on the subject matter and instill in students the necessary theoretical competency.
The applicant should have a research emphasis in the area of cultural constructions and manifestations of
corporeality (biblical, historical, contemporary somatologies), particularly in terms of conceptions of
gender or as care for the body (Cura/Care) found in pastoral and diaconal efforts in the past and present.
The professorial chair should especially be willing to initiate and coordinate interdisciplinary research
projects, both within the Faculty of Protestant Theology as well as reaching across disciplines.
Prerequisites for the position are an excellent dissertation (Promotion in the German system) and distinguished
further research (Habilitation or an equivalent second academic monograph, or a positive evaluation as a Junior
high commitment in teaching
willingness and ability to attract external funding
Experience in the organization of academic research projects and the willingness to participate in the
creation of international cooperative activities by the Faculty of Protestant Theology.
