Professorship (W2) of Information Systems Management / leading function (f/m/d) in the project group Information Systems Management of Fraunhofer FIT
The University of Bayreuth's Faculty of Law, Business & Economics and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft are currently seeking a
Professor of Information Systems Management (W2) who will also
play a leading role in the Information Systems Management project group of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT)
to commence on 1 October 2020 as a fixed-term civil service position initially limited to 5 years. In the case of consistently outstanding work, conversion into a permanent civil service position is planned.
The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. The University of Bayreuth's Faculty of Law, Business & Economics and Fraunhofer FIT – in particular, its project group for Applied Information Technology – work together in the field of information systems management.
The professorship is combined with a leading function in the project group Information Systems Management of Fraunhofer FIT. Fraunhofer FIT is shaping the future by linking knowledge from information technology with questions from other areas of life with the aim of developing tailor-made solutions that support people in their work processes and help them in their leisure time. The combination of the professorship with a leading role in the project group Information Systems Management is based on the expectation that a significant contribution will be made to the interuniversity cooperation of the University of Bayreuth with the research centre Finance & Information Management and the Fraunhofer project group Information Systems Management. For this reason, the successful applicant will complement the existing professorships in the field. In return for accepting this responsibility, the professorship offers a reduced teaching load of two semester hours for degree programmes in economics and others.
You have a distinctive research profile with sound methodological knowledge of digital technologies, digital business models, and/or digital transformation – also in the application areas of industry, services, and strategic information management – and should have excellent scientific credentials based on relevant publications in national and international journals. Experience with third-party funding, in particular the ability to acquire and manage both publicly funded and externally funded projects of applied research with partners, is a prerequisite. The willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation with staff at all Fraunhofer FIT locations is expected. In addition, we expect experience in setting up and leading your own working group as well as in interdisciplinary teaching and research. You will be able to teach in English.
The general administrative requirements for hiring professors at universities in Bavaria apply. A complete description of the vacancy can be found at www.uni-bayreuth.de/en.
A wide range of projects with high practical relevance and a great deal of freedom in research await you. The University and Fraunhofer pursue a family-friendly personnel policy and offer their employees flexible working hours and support services to help them balance their professional and private lives. The University and Fraunhofer are expressly committed to the goal of gender equality. Female scholars are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants with children are highly welcome. The University of Bayreuth is a member of the best practice club Family at University, and it offers “dual career support” for career-oriented partners of highly qualified employees. In addition, an extended audit conducted by the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) returned a favourable review for the University of Bayreuth's commitment to internationalization. All qualifications being equal, applicants with disabilities will be given priority.
The University and Fraunhofer value and promote the diversity of their employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications – regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic or social origin, religion, ideology, disability, or sexual orientation or identity.
