The Department of Geography of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural
Sciences at the University of Bonn invites applications for a tenured position
Professor (W2) of Geography (Successor of Prof. Dr. Bernd Diekkrüger)
The position is to be filled as soon as possible and not later than April 1, 2021.
Candidates are required to have established an international standing as
researchers in the field of hydrology, with a focus on process-oriented, quantitative
and cross-scale methods and research approaches in the context of water
Actively contributing to the development of the departmental research focus
water, candidates are expected to also link with the departmental research
groups in physical geography.
Able to instruct in German and English, candidates are to cover the full range
of physical geography in teaching and to contribute to all Geography degree
programs. The position demands excellent teaching skills and commitment as
well as participation in academic management at all levels.
Close cooperation within the Department of Geography, the Earth Sciences
Division, the University of Bonn's faculties and the Transdisciplinary Research
Areas (e. g. Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Futures) is of special
importance. Furthermore, we expect the new appointee to advance the development
of the geoscientific research cooperation ABC/J (Aachen, Bonn, Cologne,
Jülich) as well as to cooperate internationally.
Precondition for an appointment at W2 level is a post-doctoral qualification
(or equivalent scholarly achievements). Applications are handled according to
