Subject to the availability of funding, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is seeking, for an unlimited period, to fill the following full-time post including 16 lecture periods per week in the Department of Engineering and Industrial Design at its Magdeburg site by 01.04.2021:
W2 Professor of Electronics
With its new and dynamic combination of subjects, the Department of Engineering and Industrial Design is a department with an interdisciplinary focus that offers undergraduate Bachelor's and consecutive Master's degree programmes in a variety of disciplines.
We are seeking to appoint a person who is interested in further developing the profile areas of the university through practical teaching and applied research. It is intended that the post-holder will primarily be deployed in teaching on the Bachelor's degree programmes in Electrical Engineering and Mechatronic Systems Engineering. Over and above this, active participation in interdisciplinary student projects and other degree programmes offered by the department (such as Human-Technology Interaction) would be desirable. To support the internationalisation of our courses, some classes should be conducted in English. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in academic self-governance tasks and the organisation of teaching and studies, as well as the development of the study programmes. You will naturally also demonstrate a commitment to technology and knowledge transfer.
You will be a person with proven scientific expertise, preferably with a doctorate in the field of Electronics, have many years of successful activity in the electronics industry or related research institutions and relevant experience in the field of designing and simulating complex, analogue and digital circuits. Moreover, expertise in the following areas is also desirable:
development of electronic devices,
design and programming of embedded systems for mechatronic applications,
conceptualisation of sensor and interface electronics, and
development of FPGA circuits and the design of digital filters, in order to cover a wide range of interdisciplinary subjects in the department.
Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and the support of research projects will be advantageous. Furthermore, given the increasing internationalisation of the university, in addition to fluency in the German language you will also have excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English. Experience abroad is also desirable.
General Conditions of Employment:
The conditions of employment for professors are contained in § 35 of the Higher Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) dated 05.05.2004 and most , recently amended by the Act Amending the Provisions of the Higher Education Act dated 26.07.2010 (official gazette 19/2010) as amended, and the Guidelines on the Procedures for Appointing Professors at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences dated 13.06.2018 (BerufungsRL) as amended. The ability to conduct scientific work must be evidenced by the quality of the doctorate held by the successful candidate. In particular, for professors in universities of applied sciences, it is the case that in accordance with § 35 para. 2 no. 4b HSG LSA, specific achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods must have been demonstrated in professional practice of several years' duration, of which at least three years must have been outside the higher education sphere.
A post remunerated at W2 level is available for the professorship. (Remuneration Order W from the Act Reforming Remuneration Law in the State of Saxony-Anhalt (BesNeuRG LSA, official gazette 04/2011) as amended).
Subject to fulfilment of the requirements, the successful candidate will be appointed to the rank of civil servant with unlimited tenure or alternatively to an unlimited employment relationship under private law, in accordance with § 38 para. 1 sentence 9 HSG LSA.
