Subject to the availability of funding, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill, by 01.04.2021, the following full-time post in the Department of
Water, Environment, Civil Engineering and Safety at its Magdeburg site:
W2 Professor of Construction Operations - Construction Industry & Building Technology (m/f/o)
The Department of Water, Environment, Civil Engineering and Safety has an interdisciplinary focus and offers undergraduate (BA) and postgraduate (MA) degree programmes in a variety of disciplines.
We are seeking candidates who are interested in further developing the profile areas of the university through practical teaching and applied research. The post holder will be
responsible for teaching and researching all aspects of the construction industry - from tendering, award of contracts & invoicing to construction methods, construction
machinery technology and building organisation. With regard to teaching, the chair is primarily involved in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in
Safety and Hazard Defence as well as
Energy-Efficient Building Construction and Reconstruction
in the Department of Water, Environment, Civil Engineering and Safety. When required, the post holder should also be capable of taking responsibility for the competent,
practically-oriented teaching of adjacent subject areas. Where applicable, it may be necessary to take over teaching duties in other subjects / departments. Furthermore,
the successful candidate will be expected to participate in academic self-governance tasks and the organisation of teaching and studies, as well as the development of the study programmes.
We are seeking an experienced teacher, with proven academic and practical experience and qualifications in an engineering context, who preferably will demonstrate
experience and achievement in several of the following specialisms:
Cost accounting and financing
Tendering, award of contracts and invoicing of construction works
Types of award and contract
Construction methods and construction machinery technology
Building organisation (construction process planning, construction site facilities, occupational safety)
Candidates are expected to have completed a university degree, preferably in the subject of Civil Engineering.
Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and the support of research projects will be advantageous. Furthermore, given the increasing internationalisation
of the university, in addition to fluency in the German language you will also have excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English. Experience abroad is also desirable.
General Conditions of Employment:
The conditions of employment for professors are contained in §35 of the Higher Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) dated 05.05.2004 and most recently amended
by the Act Amending the Provisions of the Higher Education Act dated 26.07.2010 (official gazette 19/2010) as amended, and the Guidelines on the Procedures for
Appointing Professors at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences dated 13.06.2018 (BerufungsRL) as amended. The ability to conduct scientific work must
be evidenced by the quality of the doctorate held by the successful candidate. In particular, for professors in universities of applied sciences, it is the case
that in accordance with §35 para. 2 no. 4b (HSG LSA), specific achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods must have been
demonstrated in professional practice of several years' duration, of which at least three years must have been outside the higher education sphere.
A post remunerated at W2 level is available for the professorship. (Remuneration Order W from the Act Reforming Remuneration Law in the State of Saxony-Anhalt (BesNeuRG LSA, official gazette 04/2011) as amended).
Subject to fulfilment of the requirements, the successful candidate will be appointed to the rank of civil servant with unlimited tenure or alternatively to an unlimited employment relationship under private law, in accordance with §38 para. 1 sentence 9 HSG LSA.
