The Faculty of Business and Law at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences is home to over 3,500 students, who are supported by a team of more than 100 professors, lecturers, research assistants, instructors and administrative staff. We offer eleven Bachelor Degree programs, including four dual Bachelor's programs, as well as nine Master’s and MBA programs and a doctoral program in the field of mobility and logistics, thus covering the full range of academic higher education. Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences places great importance on providing students with Personal Development training, through interdisciplinary offers and targeted promotion, in order to encourage students to become self-confident and act responsibly. To strengthen this field of learning and development, Frankfurt UAS is implementing a project that is unique among universities of applied sciences (HAW) – the School of Personal Development and Education (ScoPE). ScoPE is based on four pillars: personal development, social responsibility, key competencies and HAW didactics. Firmly anchored in your faculty, you will work in an interdisciplinary team of professors on the establishment of ScoPE, network the existing expertise at the university and further develop it in a targeted manner. a Professor

Key Competencies & Personal Development, with focus on Study Skills und Science Communication

The holder of this position will be responsible for lecturing in the area ”Key Competencies“ in both Bachelor and Master Programs of Study in the Faculty of Business and Law. Areas of specialty in the teaching activity include the conception and implementation of lectures on study skills, techniques for preparing scientific work, data literacy, fundamentals of empirical research methods, as well as management skills. Special emphasis is placed on the development of innovative teaching and learning concepts.
Additionally, you would work in an interdisciplinary team of professors on establishing and developing the School of Personal Development and Education (ScoPE). This would entail providing an overarching offer of extended support for the personal development of students on a university-wide scale. The main focus of this professorship in the ScoPE includes support for scientific work, data literacy, critical thinking and general education ("educational canon").
We expect that you would furthermore be outstandingly qualified, both scientifically as well as practically, with a degree in economics, social sciences, the humanities, or a comparable area of study. Previous teaching experience at the university level is expected. Ideally you will have already had professional experience with personal development training and science communication, and will be open to working in interdisciplinary fields of study. You are highly motivated to encourage and support our diverse student body with their personal and professional development.
You are asked to submit a teaching/research concept based on the strategic direction of the faculty as well as a concept for acquiring third-party funding (see also

High presence at the institution of higher education and intensive supervision of our students; participation in basic training i.e. the representation of the relevant field in an introductory form in all degree courses of the faculty; qualification and aptitude to research and successful acquisition of third party funding; gender and diversity competence; participation in international activities of the institution of higher education, including teaching in the English language; participation in the interdisciplinary Studium generale; contributions to offers in continuing education, life-long learning and eLearning; taking on responsibility in the frame of academic self-administration; continuing education in the technical discipline and higher education didactics; willingness to cooperate cross-regionally with other institutions of higher education in the region; dedication and initiative in the frame of a service-oriented salary.
The hiring conditions are in accordance with §§ 61 and 62 of the Hessian Higher Education Act. This is a permanent contract. The first appointment as a professor is
first as a public-service employee on probation or with an unlimited employment contract with a 3-year long probation period.
