A qualified applicant is sought for research and teaching in the
area of theoretical quantum information technology.
The candidate must have proven theoretical research accomplishments
in the area of scalable quantum information processing
and in the realization of a solid state quantum computer.
The work of the candidate should strengthen one of the several
current initiatives in quantum technology and quantum engineering
at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH and RWTH Aachen
University (Peter Grünberg lnstitute, PGI-2, "Theoretical Nanoelectronics"
and JARA-lnstitute for Quantum Information). A
main focus is the realization of high-performance solid state
multi-qubit devices for quantum computing and communication.
Both support of experimental efforts and theoretical contributions
at the physics/engineering interface are of high interest.
The position is permanent and will be based at Forschungszentrum
Jülich (according to the "Jülicher Model"). Among the
teaching duties will be the participation in the education of students
in quantum information science and quantum engineering
within the curriculum of condensed matter physics at RWTH
The candidate must have a special aptitude for scientific work
which is generally verified by means of an outstanding doctorate
and successful postdoctoral work. Ability in and commitment to
teaching are essential and should be possible at all levels. The

starting date of the position is Feb. 1, 2019.
