PROFESSORSHIP (W2) IN RESOURCE-EFFICIENT BUILDING

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Ruhr-University Bochum, invites applications for the position of a Professorship (W2) in Resource-Efficient Building.
The future holder of the position will represent the subject in research and teaching.
In research, there should be a focus in the area of the planning of newly constructed buildings, the usage and dismantling of resource-efficient and sustainable buildings in consideration of building physics and climate-relevant aspects. The knowledge and relevant competence in the areas of environmental and energy accounting, material flow management as well as life cycle planning are required. The future holder of the position will actively contribute in the development of the research focus of the faculty and will influence thereby the performance and the reputation of the Ruhr-University Bochum.
Regarding the teaching position, the future holder of the position is expected to teach with a focus on environmental planning, ecobalance and resource-efficient construction in the courses of the faculties of Environmental Technology and Resource Management as well as Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Positive evaluation as a junior professor or equivalent academic achievement (e.g. habilitation) or significant post-doctoral research contributions and teaching experience are as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB.
We expect:
  • strong commitment to academic teaching at graduate and undergraduate level;
  • readiness to participate in interdisciplinary research;
  • readiness to contribute to joint research projects of the department;
  • a record to attract external funding;
  • good networking in the community of the relevant field of expertise, e.g. by cooperation in committees and commissions.
