PROFESSOR (TENURE) IN „LIFELONG LEARNING WITH A FOCUS ON NON-FORMAL AND INFORMAL LEARNING“ (SALARY SCALE W2)
The department of philosophy and educational sciences at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for the position of a Professor (tenure) in
„Lifelong learning with a focus on non-formal and informal learning“ (Salary Scale W2) to start at the beginning of the winter semester 2019/2020.
The appointment will be in the institute's research group "Formal, non-formal, and informal learning". In this context, the future holder of the post will represent the
subject of lifelong learning in research and teaching particularly regarding the
development of the relationship of primary and secondary education to post-secondary education,
development of the relationship of formal, non-formal, and informal learning across the lifespan.
Moreover it is desirable, that the future holder of the post is proficient in qualitative methods in the social sciences.
The future holder of the post will represent the subject in research and teaching.
The successful applicant will teach courses in the B. A. and M. A. Educational Sciences programs and will teach educational sciences courses in the M. of Ed. program.
The applicants should have made relevant, internationally visible scholarly contributions and have demonstrated the ability to attract external funding in the areas described above. Further requirements are a completed masters-level degree in relevant disciplines from a doctorate-granting university, an earned doctorate, and positive evaluation as a junior professor or equivalent academic achievement (e.g. habilitation). Evidence of special pedagogical aptitude for academic teaching and high commitment to teaching are just as required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of RUB.
The appointment in the Institute of Educational Sciences includes participation in interdisciplinary projects in the Professional School of Education and in the Center of Educational Studies, particularly in the context of externally-funded research projects, and requires willingness to collaborate in additional core research areas of the university and the faculty.
We expect furthermore:
high commitment in teaching;
readiness to participate in interdisciplinary academic work;
willingness and ability to attract external funding.
