Professorship (W2) in Inorganic Chemistry
Published(650 days ago)
Deadline for applications(601 days ago)
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities.
The University draws its strengths from both the diversity and the proximity of scientific and engineering disciplines
on a single, coherent campus. This highly dynamic setting enables students and researchers
to work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties.
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum - Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for the position of a Professor W2 in Inorganic Chemistry to start as soon as possible.
The research group is scientifically involved in Inorganic Chemistry and his/her research interests should reasonably
add to the research areas already existing in the faculty. The candidate is renowned for his/her research based in a
modern, experimentally oriented field in inorganic chemistry (e.g. in material chemistry, coordination chemistry,
solid-state chemistry). The future holder of the post is an internationally established researcher who has been
substantially supported by third-party funding. The strengthening of main research activities within the faculty and
the integration into existing and planned common research projects are expected.
The future holder of the post will fully represent the area of Inorganic Chemistry in teaching (in German as well as in
English language). He/She will be involved in all course programs of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry as well as
in the education of students in biology and geosciences.
Positive evaluation as a junior professor or equivalent academic achievement (e.g. habilitation) and evidence of special aptitude
for academic teaching are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB and to
generally get involved in university processes according to RUB’s mission statement.
We expect furthermore:
strong commitment to academic teaching;
readiness to participate in interdisciplinary academic work;
willingness and ability to attract external funding;
readiness to contribute to joint research projects of the department.
The Ruhr-University Bochum is an equal opportunity employer.
Qualified candidates are asked to submit their application electronically (as a single pdf file), including a CV, a list of publications
and oral presentations, their five most important publications (including two sentences about the importance of each publication), their
teaching record, a listing of previous funding and a two pages summary of research interests also with respect to research activities at
the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, by February 28, 2018, to the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry,
via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
