Professorship (W2) in Industrial Chemistry with Focus on Heterogeneous Catalysis
Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities, addressing the whole range of academic disciplines. A highly dynamic setting enables researchers and students to work across the traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. To create knowledge networks within and beyond the university is RUB’s declared aim.
W2 PROFESSORSHIP IN INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY WITH FOCUS ON HETEROGENEOUS CATALYSIS
The Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for a W2 Professorship in Industrial Chemistry with focus on heterogeneous catalysis. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
Expertise in current issues of in situ characterization, three-phase catalysis, acid-base catalysis, energy-related catalysis, environmental catalysis, or redox catalysis is highly appreciated.
Access to state-of-the-art equipment at the Chair of Industrial Chemistry is provided. The applicant is expected to link his/her activities within the faculty as well as university-wide with neighboring disciplines (e. g. Materials Science). Openness to network with other research projects within the faculty and with the Research Departments "Materials", "Closed Carbon Cycle Economy" and "Solvation Science" is expected.
The future holder of the post will fully represent Industrial Chemistry in teaching, which comprises chemical reaction engineering, unit operations, and industrial processes, both in German (B. Sc.) and in English (M. Sc.).
Positive evaluation as a junior professor or equivalent academic achievement (e.g. habilitation) and evidence of special aptitude are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB and to generally get involved in university processes according to RUB’s mission statement. We expect furthermore:
high commitment in teaching
readiness to participate in interdisciplinary academic work
willingness and ability to attract external funding.
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is an equal opportunities employer.
Qualified candidates are asked to submit their applications electronically, including a CV, a list of publications and oral presentations, their teaching record, a listing of previous funding, a one page summary of research interests, and a brief description of collaboration plans, particularly within the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry (as a single pdf file) by August 31, 2021, to the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
