The successful applicant will cover the area named above in research and teaching.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act
(
Berliner Hochschulgesetz, BerlHG).
The successful candidate will have a teaching degree in German Language and Literature
(Master of Education or equivalent degree). Additionally, three years of teaching experience
at schools and/or a PhD with a focus on the didactics of German as well as research in
German didactics in connection or collaboration with schools is required. The selectee will
have experience in university teaching, and have a track record of excellent research
focusing on the area of German didactics, both preferably internationally. Additionally,
experience with externally funded research is required.
Apart from the official duties that the appointee has to fulfil in accordance with Article 99 of
the Berlin Higher Education Act in particular, the following activities need to be fulfilled in
addition:
The appointee will participate in the Dahlem School of Education (DSE) and collaborate with
all teacher training facilities of other departments of Freie Universität Berlin. The professor
will help foster the development and the establishment of research alliances, and cooperate
with colleagues of the unit ’German as a second language’ and the other foreign language
didactics. Gender and Diversity aspects need to be considered in research and teaching.

translations if needed), a list of publications, information on teaching experience in schools,
a list of courses previously taught at universities, and evidence of teaching competence.

endeavors, joint research projects and externally funded projects, and if necessary language
certificates.
