Magdeburg Stendal University of Applied Sciences offers a range of engineering,
economics, health and human sciences courses to over 6,200 students across two sites.

the Department of Economics at the earliest possible opportunity:
W2 Professorship in General
Business Administration /
We are seeking a committed and experienced academic to convey the principles
of the field to which this vacancy pertains on the Bachelor‘s and Master‘s degree
courses offered by the Faculty of Economics and who is able to take responsibility
for several of the following focal areas in respect of both practice and research:
Management information systems
Business application systems
Applied computer science
Practical computer science
Principles of general business administration
The future post holder should be able to demonstrate extensive skills and professional
success in several focal areas as well as in research. Alongside a reputation as an
expert, excellent teaching performance, university-level didactic skills, the ability to
acquire third-party funding, international visibility in research, experience of academic
self-governance and additional interdisciplinary competences are highly desirable.
Organisational skills with respect to the design and supervision of a course of studies
are also expected.
As its leading position in the current CHE rankings shows, the Faculty of Economics has
an excellent regional network with industrial companies and institutions in Saxony-
Anhalt, as well as an international orientation. We therefore expect the post holder to
develop and maintain both regional and international relationships, to offer teaching
in the English language, to be committed to our in-service and continuing education
programmes, as well as to facilitate interdisciplinary and intercultural teamwork.
General Conditions of Employment:
The conditions of employment for professors are contained in § 35 of the Higher
Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) dated 05.05.2004 and most recently amended
by the Act Amending the Provisions of Higher Education Law dated 26.07.2010 (official
The ability to conduct scientific work must have been demonstrated by the conferral
of a doctorate. In particular, for professors in universities of applied sciences, it is the
case that in accordance with § 35 para. 2 no. 4b (HSG LSA), specific achievements in
the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods must have been
demonstrated in professional practice of several years‘ duration, of which at least
three years must have been outside the higher education sphere. Remuneration is in
accordance with W2 of Remuneration Order W from the Act Reforming Remuneration
Law in the State of Saxony-Anhalt (BesNeuRG LSA, official gazette 04/2011) as
A further requirement is that professors should be prepared to take on teaching
responsibilities in their subject area on other courses at the University. A commitment
to technology and knowledge transfer and University self-governance is also expected.
Professors should be prepared to reside within the University catchment area.
Subject to fulfilment of the requirements, the successful candidate would be appointed
to the rank of civil servant with unlimited tenure or alternatively to an unlimited
employment relationship under private law, in accordance with § 38 para. 1 line 9 HSG LSA.
