Professorship in English Philology / Linguistics with the focus Sociolinguistics

The successful candidate applicant will cover the area named above in research and teaching. The professorship will complement linguistics at the Institute for
English Language and Literature and has a special sociolinguistic focus which contributes both to the study programmes of the Institute for English Language and
Literature and to the bachelor's programme Language and Society.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz - BerlHG).
Successful candidates will have experience with qualitative and quantitative methods of sociolinguistics. They should also have expertise in at least one of the following areas:
We are looking for someone with international teaching experience and an excellent track record of research activities as well as with experience in acquiring and conducting externally funded research projects.
Apart from the official duties in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
We expect the new professor to cover the above-mentioned teaching and research focus and to contribute to the general teaching of both the English and the linguistics study programs at the department, including teacher training.
Applications should include a CV, copies of all certificates of academic qualification in German or English; if applicable the letter of appointment (please add translations if needed), a list of publications, a list of courses previously taught, and evidence of teaching competence. Furthermore, please include information on involvement in ongoing and future research endeavours, joint research projects and externally funded projects, and if necessary language certificates. If applicable for the respective content area, please give information on industrial cooperation, inventions/patents and spin-offs.
