Subject to the availability of funding, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill, by 01.10.2020, the following full-time post in the
Department of Water, Environment, Civil Engineering and Safety at its Magdeburg site:

The Department of Water, Environment, Civil Engineering and Safety has an interdisciplinary focus and offers undergraduate (BA) and postgraduate (MA) degree programmes in a variety of disciplines.
We are seeking to appoint a person who is interested in further developing the profile areas of the university through practical teaching and applied research.
The post holder will be responsible for teaching and researching all aspects of the water supply - from raw water catchment, water treatment and storage to water
distribution. With regard to teaching, the professorship is primarily involved in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Water Management, Recycling and Waste
Management and Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Water, Environment, Civil Engineering and Safety.
Furthermore, you will be prepared to participate in academic self-governance tasks and the organisation of teaching and studies, as well as the development of
the study programmes. You will naturally also demonstrate a commitment to technology and knowledge transfer.
We are seeking an experienced teacher, with proven academic and practical experience and qualifications in an engineering context, who preferably will demonstrate
experience and achievement in several of the following specialisms:
planning, construction and renovation of water supply systems
drinking water treatment methods
management of water supply systems
network optimisation and renewal strategies
protection and exploitation of water resources
Candidates are required to hold a university degree in an engineering subject. An above-average doctorate and relevant practical experience in the area of the appointment are expected.
Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and the support of research projects will be advantageous. Furthermore, given the increasing internationalisation of the university,
in addition to fluency in the German language you will also have excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English. Experience abroad is also desirable.
General Conditions of Employment:
The conditions of employment for professors are contained in § 35 of the Higher Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) and the Guidelines on the Procedures for Appointing
Professors at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences dated 13.06.2018 (BerufungsRL), both as amended. These include a completed university degree, pedagogic ability and
a special aptitude for scientific work, which will generally have been demonstrated by the acquisition of a doctoral degree. Particular achievements in the application or development
of scientific knowledge and methods must have been demonstrated through several years of professional practice, at least three years of which must have been outside of the higher education sector.
A post remunerated at W2 level is available for the professorship (Remuneration Order W from the Act Reforming Remuneration Law in the State of Saxony-Anhalt (BesNeuRG LSA, official gazette 04/2011) as amended).
Subject to fulfilment of the requirements, the successful candidate will be appointed to the rank of civil servant with unlimited tenure or alternatively to an unlimited employment relationship under private law, in accordance with § 38 para. 1 sentence 9 HSG LSA.
