Responsibilities in Teaching and Research:
Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences seeks to appoint a candidate for a professorship, which involves a high proportion of research. In practice, this means that the position entails a reduced teaching load, which may amount to a maximum of 50% of regular teaching duties. The reduced teaching load is initially limited to a period of five years with the option of a further extension period.
Thinking in integrated systems is an important component of future-oriented teaching in the fields of horticulture, agribusiness and in the energy industry. We are looking for a professor whose teaching will focus on the effects of climate change on agricultural production systems, considering both adaptation as well as prevention strategies. Your lectures will introduce relevant model approaches for the description, analysis and evaluation of agricultural production systems and demonstrate their practical applicability by means of examples. The successful candidate will conceptualize and teach German and English language modules in both the undergraduate and postgraduate study programs of the university.
The research activities of the professorship should be concentrated on a system-oriented analysis of production systems in agriculture, horticulture or in the field of renewable energies in relation to climate change. The research focus of the professorship is to understand the complex technical, ecological, economic, and social components of the systems under consideration and their interactions with climate change as well as to develop approaches for their optimization. This task requires that the research activities of the professorship interconnect well with the research fields of the faculty members in the respective departments of the university.
The university expects the successful candidate to play an active role in the development of applied research in future. Further responsibilities of the professorship include the supervision of internships, project papers and theses, teaching in English as well as participating in academic self-administration. The ability to teach specialized topics in adjacent fields of research is highly desired. Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences is looking for an individual with a university degree in agricultural sciences, horticulture or in the production and use of renewable energies. We expect the incoming candidate to have research experience in modeling and evaluating interactions between climate change and agricultural, horticultural or energy production systems. In addition, we expect you to have experience in the acquisition of third-party funding, in project management and/or the supervision and management of interdisciplinary projects as well as in the target-focused coordination of working groups with different thematic priorities.

particular ability for scientific and scholarly work as proven by a doctoral degree or comparable academic qualification in a relevant discipline; in case an applicant wishes to make a claim for the recognition of comparable academic qualifications, a formal assessment evaluating the equivalence of scientific and scholarly work in relation to a doctoral degree must be submitted (in German: "Gutachten über promotionsadäquate Leistungen")
We furthermore require expertise in the application or development of scientific findings and methods obtained during a period of at least five years of professional experience after graduation with a first degree of which at least three years must be in a field outside university. Professional work experience, which an applicant has gained during a period of preparatory service (in German: "Referendariat") or in a position as a member of academic or artistic staff at a university, may be considered for a maximum period of two years. Applicants may submit proof of professional experience outside academia by providing documentation that for a period of at least five years a considerable part of professional work was carried out under a cooperation agreement between a university and external partners in business, associations or the NGO sector.
