The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems of
Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg invites
applicants for a
Image based measurement techniques
with research-oriented focus.
The candidate will be appointed as university professor at the BTU Cottbus-
Senftenberg and granted leave (Jülicher Model) to the Institute of Aerodynamics
and Flow Technology at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Göttingen to
assume research and management tasks.
The development of the following core areas is desired:
Development and application of image based measurement methods for
turbulent and rotating flows
Development and application of advanced particle based Lagrangian tracking
methods (LPT) and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) for highly resolved
optical measurements in (turbulent) flow- and transport processes
Adaptation and application of image based measurement methods for high
Reynolds number multi-disciplinary research in experimental aerodynamics,
-elastics and -acoustics
Support of experimental validation procedures for advanced numerical
It is expected, that candidates have appropriate experience in more than one of
these fields of research and are willing to participate in joint research projects
with other departments of the faculty and the university and to continue current
research activities of the department.
The professorship is member of the Institute of Traffic Engineering at BTU.
Furthermore, a close cooperation with the BTU Center for Flow- and Transport
Phenomena (CFTMM) is desired which aims at focusing on fluid mechanics
within the interdisciplinary research between engineering, environmental
science, mathematics, physics and process engineering.
A personality is sought-after which is able to represent and address the
related scientific topics in research and teaching comprehensively and is well
cross-linked in the national and international community. The future holder of
the position should be experienced in the acquisition and implementation of
collaborative projects with partners from industry and science. In teaching,
the candidate is expected to collaborate in all study courses of mechanical
engineering as well as in other engineering study courses. The teaching
responsibility will be 2 hours per week during the semester.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches
Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the State Brandenburg - BbgHG) in
conjunction with § 3 BbgHG. Please refer to §§ 41 paragraph 1, No. 1 - 4 a und
43 BbgHG for prerequisites and conditions of employment.
Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is
expected. The research topics should be relevant for DFG (German Research
Foundation) funding or other international Research Foundations.
