The Institute of Archaeological Sciences, Dept. III Prehistory and Protohistory, at the Faculty of Linguistics, Cultures and Arts of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt / Main, Germany, seeks to fill the following position in civil servant status or equivalent employment, to commence on 01. October 2019:
Professorship (W2)
or Prehistory of Africa
The position holder is expected to represent the field of the prehistory of Africa in research and teaching with a focus on the transition from hunters and gatherers to food-producing communities, the beginning of metallurgy and the advent of complex societies. The candidate should have relevant field research experience. The position holder is expected to actively participate in interdisciplinary projects of the faculty or the university as well as to make intensive efforts to attract third-party funds and to participate in research network initiatives.
Prerequisites for admission are a university degree, a doctoral degree and, in addition, academic achievements, which can be proven by a habilitation or habilitation equivalent achievements.
The designated salary for the position is based on the German university pay scale or equivalent.
