from as soon as possible and limited for 5 years. This is a W2 tenure track position. In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the requirements of a permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than after four years of service. The professorship will be funded by the "Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses." The aim of the programme is to pave the way for a secure career in academia for early stage researchers. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teach, as well as be active on various university committees and acquire leadership and management skills. The concrete requirements out of the framework catalogue [https://hu.berlin/tenuretrack_katalog] will be specified in the course of the appointment process.
Applicants are expected to represent civil law and a subsidiary subject in research and teaching.
With filling this position, the faculty also aims at strengthening itself in the areas of employment law or ancient Roman law or another basic subject.
The successful applicant should participate in the teaching of the range of courses offered in the core areas of civil law and the applicable specialization, i. e. subsidiary subject (e. g. "Zeitgeschichte des Rechts" or "Zivilrechtliche Rechtsberatung und Rechtsgestaltung"). The willingness to potentially be in charge of organizing the university examination preparation courses in the area of civil law is also desirable.
The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 100 of the "Berliner Hochschulgesetz". Applicants must hold a law degree (state exams or comparable foreign degrees) and have sufficient knowledge of the German language. We expect a postdoctoral thesis (Habilitation) in law. In place of the postdoctoral thesis, we will also accept equivalent scientific achievements.
HU is seeking to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching, and specifically encourages qualified female scholars to apply. Researchers from abroad are welcome to apply. Severely disabled applicants with equivalent qualifications will be given preferential consideration. People with an immigration background are specifically encouraged to apply.
Please send your application (including a CV, copies of academic certificates and list of publications) by 02.10.2018, and quoting the reference number PR/026/18 to: Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Dean of Faculty of Law, Prof. Eifert, Unter den Linden 6, 10099 Berlin.
