The Faculty of Biosciences at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt/Main, Institute of Ecology, Evolution and Diversity invites applications to fill the following position as soon as possible:
Professorship (W2 , tenure track)
for Biodiversity Conservation
The initial tenure track appointment is for six years (§ 64 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG)). Upon positive evaluation, the incumbent will be promoted to a permanent position at a higher level (W3).
The professorship aims to strengthen the research focus Biodiversity at Goethe-University and is expected to cover the area of environmental protection and nature conservation in its full breadth. We are looking for an outstanding scientist, who mainly deals with plant organisms and their environmental interactions, including experimental approaches, and who has extensive experience in several of the following areas:
Current approaches to nature conservation, which consider not only the structure and dynamics of natural ecosystems but also the ecosystem services provided
Regulatory and planning aspects of nature conservation
Designation of protected areas, including management planning and monitoring
Implementation of species and nature conservation law
The holder of the position is expected to have basic ecological and faunistic knowledge and to cooperate with other departments of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, the Faculty of Geosciences and non-university institutions, in particular through collaborative projects. Applicants are also expected to have achieved outstanding results in their apprenticeship. The future holder of the position is to contribute substantially to courses on ecology in the German-speaking Bachelor‘s degree program in Biosciences and to the Institute‘s Master‘s degree programs. The future holder of the position will also be responsible for the management of courses conducted in cooperation with biodiversity institutions in the Frankfurt area with the aim of preserving and investigating biodiversity. Experiences from applied nature conservation activities in governmental or non-governmental institutions or the cooperation with these actors are desired.
