Professorship, W2 Building Materials Technology and Concrete & Masonry Structures
Your tasks: Within the field of teaching your scope of duties will be in the bachelor study programme Civil Engineering, in particular in the structural engineering field of specialisation, in addition to the masters study programme Structural Engineering and Digital Construction Processes. The teaching content will contain the fundamentals of construction materials in the building industry with the relevant sections of concrete and masonry structures. The management of the Building Materials Laboratory is assigned to the subject area. Furthermore the subject area is an essential element of the Structural Engineering Laboratory.
The professorial chair should, in the research field, in particular contribute to innovative and sustainable as well as resource-saving building materials, and to the automatic processing of such building materials and further development of the focus area digital construction.
Furthermore, you promote innovative and interdisciplinary study and communication formats for multidisciplinary teaching and for the dialog between science and society. This may include, in particular, interdisciplinary student projects and may involve, if possible, several departments.
You identify yourself with the university's support concept, which entails a high presence of the lecturers at the university and the willingness to take over the tasks of self-administration at the university. You offer your courses in German. In addition, you are qualified to conduct courses in English.
Your profile: The potential candidate should have a PhD and be a person with engineering skills and a university degree, notably in civil engineering. The ability to represent the specialist field in the required breadth and depth with regard to research and teaching is assumed to be given.
Particularly desirable skills include extensive professional experience and a proven track record in research as well as scientific work in the area of innovative constructive materials as well as material-specific construction and assessment, with these in a managerial capacity. Detailed requirements include experience in the following areas: development, use and processing of resource-saving and sustainable building materials and procedures in addition to the automation of manufacturing processes. Furthermore experience in the area of external fund raising, in addition to experience with regard to interdisciplinary and international research is desirable.
