The Faculty of Modern Languages (Department of German Literature) of Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt am
Main welcomes applications for the following position, starting in April 2019:
Wl (without tenure track) German Literature with a focus on
Romantic research
The position includes teaching duties of 4 hours per week during the teaching period. The position is limited to six years
and subject to a midterm review. With its aim of qualification as set out in the Hessian Higher Education Act in the version
of December 9
th 2015, the professorship (W1) corresponds to the previous Junior (Assistant) Professorship. The
salary for the position is based on “W1” on the German university scale.
The designated candidate holds an excellent PhD in Modem German Literature and is familiar with topics in the fields of
Cultural Studies and the History of Knowledge or Poetology and Aesthetics, which is ideally attested by the dissertation.
Furthermore, she/he is expected to provide a research programme within the current discourse in Romantic research. Experiences
in teaching and the acquisition of third party funding as well as international co-operations are welcome. The candidate will
be expected to contribute to all degree programmes the department is involved in.
The professorship is also involved in teacher training; experience and concepts for teaching subject content in schools are welcome.
